Making Music, Praising God

photo

As we were driving past a Shanty Town in Port Elizabeth this little Church caught my eye. The sign is not very clear but it reads ……

New Salvation Church Of God

‘NEW SALVATION CHURCH OF GOD.’  I thought about St Margaret’s Church on Mapledurham Estate where I live and as you can see, both Church buildings are very different

St Margaret's Church

The question is ……….. do you think the building matters to God ??

  • The people of God are His temple (1 Cor 6). In colder and wetter countries like the UK it is helpful to have a building within which to worship. However, no building is the house of God (1 Kings 8:27).

God does not look at the appearance but at the heart (1 Sam 16:7). May He greatly bless both congregations.

  • TWO DIFFERENT CHILDREN-ONE FATHER!

  • No building is necessary to worship God who listens and saves every one of us whether we be sinner or saint.
The next time you feel like GOD can’t use you, just remember….

    Noah was a drunk
    Abraham was too old
    Isaac was a daydreamer
    Jacob was a liar
    Leah was ugly
    Joseph was abused
    Moses had a stuttering problem
    Gideon was afraid
Samson had long hair and was a womanizer
    Rahab was a prostitute
Jeremiah and Timothy were too young
David had an affair and was a murderer
    Elijah was suicidal
    Isaiah preached naked
    Jonah ran from God
    Naomi was a widow
    Job went bankrupt
    Peter denied Christ (3 times!)
The Disciples fell asleep while praying

    Now! No more excuses!
God can use you to your full potential.
Besides, you aren’t the message, you are just the
    messenger.
    And one more thing…

Share this with a friend or two…
In the Circle of God’s love, God is waiting to use your
    full potential..

    1. God wants spiritual fruits, not religious nuts.
    2. “Dear God : I have a problem. It’s me.
” My Dear Child: I have the solution. It’s Me! !”
    3. Growing old is inevitable … growing UP is optional.
    4. There is no key to happiness. The door is always open.
    5. Silence is often misinterpreted but never misquoted.
    6. Do the math .. count your blessings.
    7. Faith is the ability to not panic.
    8. Laugh every day. It’s like inner jogging.
    9. If you worry, you didn’t pray. If you pray, don’t worry.
    10. As a child of God , prayer is kind of like calling
    home every day.
    11. Blessed are the flexible for they shall not be
    bent out of shape…
    12. The most important things in your house are the
    people! ..
    13. When we get tangled up in our problems, be still.
God wants us to be still so He can untangle the knot.
    14. A grudge is a heavy thing to carry.
15 He who dies with the most toys is still dead.

  • Love the pics that show a spectrum of church buildings.
Thinking of places where I have had the joy of worshipping go with others, under a mango tree in the Philippines coes to mind. I also recall a little church in Mt Hagen Papua New Guinea. We walked to the church in the dark. The only light was an oil lantern that illuminated the whites of their eyes and white teeth. The joy was tangible as we sang our worship songs. The most memorable communion service was held in a disco room, with no doors or windows. We gathered with underground church leaders who had traveled for days to come to the training I was part of giving. The women held the bread and cup of juice with so much reverenence, tears steaming down their faces as they contemplated Jesus who died on the Cross for our sins.
Church is where the ‘ecclesia’, the ‘called out ones’, gather to remember and celebrate a risen Lord. The building is the boddy of believers gathered.
I just recentll attend New Life Church in Johannesburg. The music was lively, the lights low, the hundreds gathered looking up in worship and thanksgiving. The building beautiful. large but very practical, with the evidence of ativities for children and youth. We loved it!
How privileged we are as the body of Christ, called from every nation and tribe, to worship God in our hearts wherever we are.
Blessings to you Bonny and Andy. The African Queen is a place where people gather to enjoy your cuisine, the beauty of the Thames and the joy of your warm, fun hospitality. God bless you!
